It’s no secret that Rachel has been hooked since starring on Strictly Come Dancing in 2008 when her love affair with the music, the dances, the performance - and even the sequins (!) began so she’s delighted to be able to join this year’s celebrities performing with pro dance, Kevin Clifton.
Rachel said: “I’m really happy for Frankie and Wayne - it’s great news to start the New Year with! I know she’s disappointed not to be doing the tour - I was supporting Team Frankie during the show and she was fantastic, but I’m happy to be able to step in for her. It’s no secret that I loved my time in Strictly and that I’m a big fan of the dances so I'm excited to be back and to get my dancing shoes on again. Today, I’m straight into rehearsals learning the routines and meeting the guys and next week we’ll be on tour seeing fans across the country - I can’t wait!"
Rachel will join 2014 Strictly champion Caroline Flack, fellow finalists Simon Webbe and Mark Wright, together with Scott Mills, Alison Hammond and Thom Evans. The new judging panel features the 2008 Strictly winners Tom Chambers and Camilla Dallerup, who join TV judge Craig Revel Horwood and Zoe Ball will host.
The Strictly tour opens with the first of 31 performances at the Barclaycard Arena, Birmingham on Friday 16 January. The show will then visit some of the biggest entertainment venues across the UK: The Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, Leeds’ First Direct Arena, Manchester Arena, the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena, The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Liverpool’s Echo Arena, The SSE Arena in Wembley, before culminating at London's O2 Arena on 8 February.
