RACHEL TO BECOME AMBASSADOR FOR CAUDWELL CHILDREN’S DESTINATION DREAMS

RACHEL TO BECOME AMBASSADOR FOR CAUDWELL CHILDREN’S DESTINATION DREAMS

As many of you know, I’ve supported Caudwell Children for a number of years and have regularly attended their annual Butterfly Balls. I became a Goodwill Ambassador of the charity when I performed at one of the first Balls that they organised, but I feel privileged to have now been asked to be an Official Ambassador for one of their core activities, Destination Dreams.

Open

Caudwell Children is an amazing charity that provide support, equipment, therapies and treatment to disabled children and their families across the UK, who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford the help that they need.

I recently came back from the Destination Dreams trip 2014, which is an annual trip delivered by the charity for children fighting life threatening and life limiting illnesses. The trip really does turn dreams into reality for the amazing families that are able to go, taking the families and their children out to Disney World in Florida to enjoy some very special and much needed time together with the support of volunteers, medical experts and carers to ensure that all members of the family can enjoy their time there to the very max in the knowledge that they have the care and support they need.

Caudwell Children is unique as a single generous benefactor covers the charity’s annual management and administration costs so that donations go straight to the people who need it. I’ve been lucky enough to meet a number of the children and families that have benefitted from the help and support that Caudwell Children offers and have been completely humbled by the experiences that they’ve shared with me.

I hope you’ll  join me in supporting such a worthwhile cause; I can’t express how important Caudwell Children is to the people that they support. The charity team and volunteers that make this happen on a day-to-day basis have blown me away and I can’t wait to tell you more.

RACHEL RETURNS TO STRICTLY COME DANCING FOR 2014 CHRISTMAS SPECIAL

RACHEL RETURNS TO STRICTLY COME DANCING FOR 2014 CHRISTMAS SPECIAL

It’s all go at Rachel HQ at the moment with The Voice and getting back together with S Club 7 for Children in Need and just when I thought it couldn’t get any more exciting/couldn’t squeeze any more dates into the diary … I can now announce that I’ll be back on TV for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special!

Open

I’ve been twitching to tell you about this for a little while but have been sworn to secrecy! As you know, I’m a huge Strictly fan (I’m #TeamFrankie all the way this year although there are a LOT of good people in the line up so I’m hooked as usual) so to be able to put my dancing shoes back on is amazing. We’re back in rehearsals getting ready for a pantomime inspired Christmas routine and whilst it's strange not to be dancing with Vincent as we had a very special bond, Tristan MacManus is my equally fabulous partner in crime this year and we’re having lots of fun already as he puts me through my paces. So a big thank you to him!

Other people joining the Christmas Special this year are Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Lisa Riley, Louis Smith, Chris Hollins and Russell Grant – Sir Bruce will also be back this year hosting with Tess so it will be like old times!

I really miss dancing, it’s such a great feeling once you’ve got the routine down. And it’s one of the best work outs I’ve done! When you’re in your dress, the music starts and the live audience get excited of course it’s really nerve wracking and you slightly wonder what you’re doing and if you’ll remember the steps and all those kinds of things but the feeling you have in those few minutes with your partner, is magical.

I can’t wait to get under that famous glitter ball again and I hope you’ll tune in to find out what we’re dancing to, I’d love your support.

RACHEL AND MINNIE SHOOT THE COVER OF MOTHER & BABY MAGAZINE

RACHEL AND MINNIE SHOOT THE COVER OF MOTHER & BABY MAGAZINE

A few months ago, I did a really fun shoot for Mother & Baby magazine which is officially available nationwide in the UK from tomorrow (although some stockists have it on shelf already - a little bit earlier than the official date!).

Open

I was asked to feature as one of their few celebrity covers for a special Christmas issue with Minnie which I thought would be a lovely memory to have with it being her very first Christmas.

It was a great day, spent in the most beautiful house (one of the perks of the job!) and the team were fantastic, entertaining Minnie and dressing her up in some beautiful little outfits.

Big thanks to my lovely glam squad, Malin Coleman for hair and makeup, Charlotte Adsett for styling and to Peter Pedonomou for the lovely photos.

S CLUB 7 BRING IT ALL BACK FOR BBC CHILDREN IN NEED!

S CLUB 7 BRING IT ALL BACK FOR BBC CHILDREN IN NEED!

Hello everyone! There have been a few rumours lately and now, finally, I can set the record straight!

Open

Yes, me and my lovely S Club 7 band mates, Bradley, Hannah, Jo, Jon, Paul and Tina are getting together for the first time since 2003 for an exclusive performance on Children In Need Appeal night on November 14th, 2014.

Rehearsals have started and it’s genuinely great to be back with the guys. It's very nostalgic and we’re having a lot of fun!

We’ve been working on a medley of our greatest hits to perform on the show, which will be a really special occasion for us to come back together for as we supported Children In Need with 2 charity singles -'Never Had a Dream Come True' which went to No1 in 2000 as CIN’s official charity song and was also our first US top 10 hit, and ‘Have You Ever’ which was our second single for the charity.

Recently, I’ve also lent my face to their Barefaced campaign and this year, that image has graced the side of buses across London in a bid to get more of you involved in this year’s fundraising campaigns.

From the bottom of my heart, a huge thank you to all of you who have sent such lovely messages recently and have supported us over the years. I can’t wait for the show and to bring it all back for Pudsey and for all our fans here and around the world.

RACHEL STEVENS TO JOIN THE VOICE, IRELAND

RACHEL STEVENS TO JOIN THE VOICE, IRELAND

HRNK! We’re super excited to let you know that Rachel will be joining series four of The Voice of Ireland, joining fellow coaches, Kian Egan, Bressie and Una Foden.

RTE’s smash hit show returns to screens from January 4th 2015, with the search for this year’s vocal talent starting in mid October when the filming of the Blind Auditions starts, followed by the Battles in November.

Open

Rachel said;
“I’m a big fan of The Voice so I can’t wait to join the team of coaches on the Voice of Ireland this year.  I’m sure it will be great fun, but most of all I’m looking forward to listening to the great vocal talent that Ireland has to offer each week and to securing a team of people who have excited me enough to make me push that button for them. When I turn my chair, it will be for someone really special who gets under my skin and I truly believe has what it takes to make it to the final."

Larry Bass – Screentime Shinawil
"We are delighted to announce this year's Coach line-up. It’s a welcome return for 2 time winner Bressie and Kian Egan. Kian is seeking his first win, although he came close with Kelly Mongan - Kian is determined to win this year! New to the coach line up we have Una Foden who has done it all in the world of music, including auditioning for shows like The Voice, Una stuck at it and has had a remarkable career with The Saturdays. Una as a Tipperary girl will know exactly what it takes to get to the top. And finally we introduce Rachel Stevens to Irish audiences as a coach, Rachel has also scaled the heights of the pop world not only as a member of S Club 7 but also with her solo career, so we look forward to Rachel adding even more glamour to The Voice this year"

John McHugh RTÉ
“I'm thrilled that Una Foden and Rachel Stevens have joined The Voice of Ireland and I’m sure they’ll be a great addition to the show. Both Una and Rachel are talented artists with a string of hits and have the expertise to spot a star. It’ll be interesting to see how Kian and Bressie will react, as competition between the coaches is bound to intensify this year.”

Contestants will audition in the Blind stages, Battle against each other in the Battle Stages and finally take to the live stage in Dublin’s Helix for a chance to win a recording contract with Universal.

Yes, I’ll be back again this year to judge the 2014 Junior Design Awards in September!

As many of you probably know, I’ve always loved anything and everything style and fashion related. It started when I got my first Girls’ World hair and make up set back in the eighties and went on to take me to study at the London College of Fashion.

I’m really pleased to be part of the judging panel again this year - it’s always lovely to see what gorgeous designs have been entered into the competition and to find new and innovative brands that I might otherwise not get to see. I’ll keep you all up to date on what I get to see!

I can’t quite believe that our first shoot together was 14 years ago and that this week I’ve been voted “Sexiest of the Sexiest” in the 20th year of FHM’s Sexiest Women in the World. I’m very flattered - it was a very special cover to shoot.

It’s always great fun working with FHM and we try to do something different each time so I hope you like it, my 8th cover with the magazine! Wow!

BUTTERFLY BALL

BUTTERFLY BALL

Tomorrow night will be my first night out since having had Minnie!

Open

It’s for a great cause, the annual Butterfly Ball for Caudwell Children, a charity that helps lots of young disabled children and their families by providing support, equipment, therapies and treatment to people who otherwise may not be able to afford the help they really need.

I became a patron of the charity when I first performed at the ball quite a few years ago and I was lucky enough to meet some of the incredible and brave children and families who they support. Last time I attended the ball I was very humbled, it raised huge amounts of money and I got the chance to meet more people that the charity helps, as well as those working hard to make this all happen on a daily basis.

So, it’s an absolute pleasure to be invited back again this year and I’m looking forward to being part of the event. Fingers crossed that they raise a huge amount on the night!

WORLD WATER DAY

WORLD WATER DAY

As you know, I’m an ambassador for WaterAid and support them in raising awareness and funds throughout the year.

Open

After visiting some of their projects in Ethiopia it brought home the sad reality of the issues that communities without water face, on a daily basis and I am compelled to help the charity in achieving their goals.

So, this Saturday is World Water Day. We can all do our bit to help whether it’s by making a donation - however great or small or by pledging your support to the fantastic campaigns that they champion.

This week I pledged my support for their #EveryoneEverywhere campaign. It’s a very simple and effective way to help and you can do it too - it only takes a few seconds.

By pleading my support my name was then illuminated (along with others) in Canary Wharf on WaterAid’s virtual waterfall (pic above!)! The campaign is to help make clean water a reality for EVERYONE around the globe by 2030, and as you know it's a cause really close to my heart.

Having seen the impact that a lack of clean water has, first hand, it really brings home how important it is that we help where we can. Having clean water is a basic need to survive and we no doubt take it for granted as it isn’t a problem that most of us have to deal with. It impacts on the lives of those who live without it on many, many levels from a basic struggle to stay alive, to healthcare, education and hope.

If like me, you would like to pledge for clean water for Everyone Everywhere and have your name projected on the waterfall in Canary Wharf, or if you’d simply like to find out more about what WaterAid do, please visit their website. http://www.wateraid.org/uk/get-involved/world-water-day

RACHEL INTERVIEW: THE CELEB HUNTER, CHANNEL 4, 10PM, TONIGHT, MONDAY 10 FEBRUARY

RACHEL INTERVIEW: THE CELEB HUNTER, CHANNEL 4, 10PM, TONIGHT, MONDAY 10 FEBRUARY

Tune in to Channel 4 tonight to see Rachel interviewed by Chris Stark.

Open

Chris Stark has an idea – to make his own mobile chat show. Armed only with his dad’s camping chairs he wants to meet some of the greats face to face. But can the side kick who managed to charm Jennifer Aniston do it?

Everybody’s got to start somewhere; all the best hosts have all had to cut their teeth with an awkward interview or two. Having worked his way up from Hospital Radio, Chris gained infamy for his wonderfully unorthodox interview with Hollywood A-lister Mila Kunis for BBC Radio 1’s The Scott Mills Show. The video went viral and got over 12 million views.

More than a little confused and intrigued by the modern world of celebrity he’s out to prove that celebrities are normal people; pretty much anyone can meet them if they try hard enough, and if you talk to them like you’re having a pint down your local they really are just normal people.

Followed by BAFTA award winning director Matt Rudge, Chris plans to put his charm and unique interviewing skills to the test but first he needs to find the guests. He and his mates have gone down the pub and put together their ultimate list of famous faces, including Elton John, Derek Akorah, Verne Troyer, Ricky Hatton, Johnny Knoxville and Carol Vorderman.

Despite a career in the ‘media’ he doesn’t have a phone book filled with celebrity numbers so instead he calls on his local football team, Watford FC, and it’s fans to help find his celeb guests. His mobile phone is inundated with messages but with callers claiming to know Margaret Thatcher and the Queen it seems that this way of crowd sourcing might prove a dead end.

Eventually through persistence, a lot of loitering and crashing a wedding show, he gets his chance to chat to some real celebs but there are still a few things he needs to learn.

A skilled host will always ask a good question – has a celebrity mum ever been asked to compare giving birth with man-flu before? A good host will always be well turned out -would Parky ever reveal to an A-list guest that he’s had a heavy night and as such had dressed a little ‘scummy’? An experienced host will always make their guest feel comfortable – well, at least everyone Chris interviews is offered the chair with two cup holders.

Pulling in favours, twisting arms and crossing fingers Chris meets an array of weird and wonderful celebrities, learning more about the unique worlds around them and giving them a fascinating insight in to his, sometimes hilarious and often bizarre, world.
